This plant is beautiful as a border plant for the garden bed or grown among ornamental grasses. It has striking yellow and bright red tall foliage and is known as Summer Poinsettia.
Start the seeds indoors 6 - 8 weeks before the last expected frost. For areas with long growing seasons, Amaranthus seeds can be directly started outdoors in a prepared seed bed after danger of frost has passed.
Planting indoors: grow in loam-based potting compost in full light. Water freely in summer, and provide high humidity if possible.

Amaranthus Perfecta is a somewhat narrow, column-shaped plant that reaches approx. 36 inches tall and just approx. 12 - 18 inches wide in the sunny garden. It is not afraid of damp soils and is a superb choice for waterside plantings. Few sights are as stunning as an Amaranthus flower garden which are all easily grown from flower seeds.
Note: I have found that there is a tiny beetle that loves this plant in my neck of the woods. I treated the plant with diatomaceous earth – food grade and it takes care of that tiny stripe beetle. Neem oil is not a good idea at all. The plant does not like Neem oil…. I found this out the hard way, although the plant has survived it has bad blemishes on the leaves….ugh.
