Cottage Pinks Seeds
Cottage Pinks Seeds
Cottage Pinks Seeds, Mixed Colors (Dianthus plumarius) Perennial, non gmo open pollinated
Minimum 25 seeds per package.
Fragrant clove-like scent, fringed blooms in a range of pinks, white and purple are wonderful reminders of old-fashioned English "cottage pinks or grass pinks". Dianthus Cottage Pinks establish well from flower seeds, and they work well for edging, in the front of the border, used as a ground cover plant, for rock gardens and to interplant in rock walls.
Dianthus Plumarius prefer full sun in a cool climate. Most varieties if started early will bloom in the first year. They will bloom in spring and early summer. Blooms are 1 - 2 inches in diameter. Deadheading spent flowers will promote a longer lasting bloom season.
Dianthus requires light and fast draining soils. The addition of lime can remedy overly acidic soils. Pinks are sensitive to over watering. But in dry periods water once or twice a week. This Dianthus only grows 12 inches tall so it can be used as a ground cover plant.
