Nasturtium Spitfire Seeds, 10 seeds per package.
This nasturtium seed grows as an annual, a beautiful flowering plant in USDA zones 3 - 10. Nasturtiums, also known as Tropaeolum Majus, bloom profusely all summer long and are considered deer resistant.
This seed will produce 2 to 3 inch wide unique flowers in a wonderful shade of scarlet orange.
Sow 1 to 2 seeds per plant, about 1/2" deep or 3 to 4 pounds per 1,000 square feet for a dense display of annual heirloom flowers. Does well in full sun or part shade. I have found it does not like the Texas heat at 5pm in July so I plant mine in part shade and it does very well. It also grows well in hanging baskets and medium to large pots that get part shade from the 5pm heat. It seems to do very well when planted closely with several nasturtium plants.
Nasturtium is an annual that you can grow for pretty foliage and pretty flowers, but it can also be eaten. Both the flowers and leaves of the nasturtium are tasty eaten raw or tossed in a fresh salad. It has a peppery flavor and looks so pretty in a salad.
