Old-Fashioned Four O’ Clock Pink Flower Seeds, (Mirabilis Jalapa Pink)

Minimum 40 seeds per package

The hummingbirds will love your garden when you grow these fragrant flowers from Four O' Clock seeds. These old-fashioned favorites have a bright pink trumpet shaped flower that is very distinctive.

Four O’ Clock flowers only open in the afternoon but the aroma is worth the wait. They grow very bushy and full of pink flowers. Good for children to grow, since they are colorful, easy to plant, and fast growing. Plants often self-sow, so allow some spent flowers to go to seed. The roots form tubers that may be dug up and stored over the winter. Shorter varieties are fine for containers. Plants are heat and drought tolerant.

Native to tropical areas of North and South America they prefer warm climates. Four O' Clocks are actually perennials, but are grown as annuals in most of the heavy frost areas of the U.S. The bushy plants make an attractive hedge or border. Because the flowers are open during the evening, I recommend you place them in areas where people will see them in early evening hours to get the most out of this Mirabilis Jalapa

Prepare the soil by removing weeds and working organic matter into the top 6-8 inches of soil; then level and smooth.

Thin to stand 12-18 inches apart when seedlings are 1-2 inches high. Plants need about 1 inch of rain per week during the growing season.
