Anaheim Pepper Seeds (Capsicum annuum)

Open Pollinated, Non-GMO,

Minimum 15 seeds per package

Anaheim Pepper plant (Capsicum annuum) is a mild/hot pepper originating in Mexico. This mild/slightly spice pepper is a favorite in hot salsas, sauces, and excellent for roasting or frying.

Sow seed in containers, raised beds or in ground.  Full sun is needed for these peppers.

You can sow 8 weeks before last frost.  Sow ¼” deep in potting soil mix, if using a heat mat it will need to be around 75-85 degrees, 12 to16 hours a day to get them to germinate.  The soil needs to be lightly moist until germination.  When the last frost has passed you can plant your seedlings outside, but be sure to allow them to go through a hardening off time before you place them directly in the ground or outside in containers. The seedlings need to adjust to temps and wind.

Or you can direct sow the seeds after last frost has passed. They do well in good draining soil, full sun and keep the soil lightly moist until germination.  As you learn how much water your plant needs as it grows, just test the soil with your finger. If it is dry about an inch down then water the plant. Watering most plants works best to water at ground level instead of overhead watering so the foliage stays dry. Will do well if shade is given during the hot summer months, 95F plus.  If you keep the plant protected from cold winters it will grow and produce for up to 3 years, if not longer.  Fertilize twice during growing season after the plant is a good 10” tall.

The pepper is usually harvested when it is a long green color but some folks leave the peppers until they are red, spicier!
