Suggested Seed Spacing: Plant seeds approximately 15"- 20" apart.

Instructions: After all danger of frost, sow sunflowers seeds in open ground well exposed. Cover with 1/2" of soil.  When plants are 4" tall, thin.

 Suggestions: Excellent for tall blooming backgrounds and screens for unsightly places. Harvest seeds by cutting flower heads when back of flower head turns yellow, then hang downward in a warm, dry place for up to two weeks. I did have good success with these sunflowers and they were tall and beautiful. The pollinators and birds loved them, too.

Most sunflowers do not need to be staked to keep them standing strong and upright but depending on the soil and weather conditions you might consider giving them a brace if they begin to lean too much. If you want to save the seeds for yourself then you can place a paper bag over the heads so the birds do not get to them.
