Moon and Stars Heirloom Watermelon seeds will grow into a large watermelon, size range approximately 12 to 30 lbs.  The flavor is nice and sweet.

9.7% “brix” measurement. What does “brix” measurement mean? Commercial watermelon growers value melons high in sugar and the name for this sweetness is called “brix” and can be scientifically measured.  Average watermelon is 10, extra sweet is 11 -12.

Spots range in size from tiny to several inches across. Leaves are also specked in yellow. It has very sweet, brilliant red flesh. This is becoming one of the most popular heirloom varieties.  Originally introduced by Peter Henderson & Co. in 1926,

Seed Spacing: Sow watermelon seeds roughly 3' apart in rows, keeping rows approximately 6' apart.

Instructions: Easy to grow. Start Moon and Stars Watermelon seeds indoors 4 weeks before transplanting outdoors. Take care not to disturb roots when transplanting. Or, sow a few seeds over a hill 9"-12" tall and 2' across. When the plants are 3" tall, thin by cutting to 3 plants per hill or rows. Use a balanced fertilizer to increase yield.

Suggestions: Choose a site with good drainage, good air circulation, and full sun. They're ready to harvest when the skin on the underside turns yellow and when a thump with knuckles produces a hollow sound. So very TASTEY!
